2012 Banger Car run

The fundraising run took place over the Easter period (5th to 9th April 2012). The car left Southampton on Thursday 5th April and went to Telford via Bristol for the first overnight stop. Steve and Ben set off early on Friday 6th April with the intention of visiting the highest road in Wales (Bwich Y Groes in Snowdonia) before heading to Wrexham to do some fundraising. Unfortunately the minor roads leading to Bwlch Y Groes had a lot of snow so it was decided to divert and arrive in Wrexham early. We were met by the very enthusiastic local ATC Squadron who assisted us with the fundraising in Queens Square and the general town centre area. After that the car set off to travel up to Killington Lake services for more fundraising before heading to Carlisle for the overnight stop. On Saturday 7th April the first stop was Paisley in Scotland to carry out fundraising then up to the Cairnwell Pass (The UK's and Scotland's highest road). Dropping down into Edinburgh for the overnight stop. Easter Sunday the run tracked south to Morpeth in Northumbria for fundraising at the Tranwell car boot sale before visiting the Morpeth RAFA club. After that we set off on the long trek to Stafford for the final overnight stop.

Further details about the route we took and fundraising stops are below.
